Year 3 Cloverdale
PS students are playing new age computer games in class - all in the
name of education, of course. Thirteen PS students are testing computer
games designed by the new multimedia company Fun-Ed. The students,
members of the Junior Advisory Board (JAB), are also providing valuable
input for product development. Cloverdale PS Principal Colin Hollier
said the initiative had proved beneficial to students. "It has enabled
then to actually have a say in materials they will work with," he
said. " It has also provided extension for our more talented students
and enables them to be involved in technology while compiling activities
that are fun." Bronwyn
McCormack, pedagogical consultant to Fun-Ed said the students were
surveyed in term 3 to find out what type of computer games they preferred.
"The response from the students has been very positive," she said.
"Cloverdale PS is the only school in Australia involved at the moment
but things are happening on an international front." Cloverdale PS
JAB members have been busy learning how computer games are designed
from start to finish and will have their ideas and drawings incorporated
in a game, to be placed on the Fun-Ed website at www.fun-ed.com. Their
ideas will be used to promote Fun-Ed around the world.
