Sydney, 30th May, 2002 - GameNation, Australia's premier source of interactive software, proudly announces that Fun-Ed, the producer of Ratbags at Windy Towers, is delighted and proud to have been awarded first prize in the ATOM Awards in the category of Best Educational Website /CD-ROM.
The ATOM Awards, held this year on 25th May, recognizes excellence in Film, Television, Radio and Multimedia - the event twenty years in existence, celebrates the very best of Australian production.
Ratbags at Windy Towers, a series of educational CD Rom based maths games, aimed at ages 8 plus is the second series of exciting games produced by this skilled group of young professionals from Perth, WA. Ratbags features stunning, high-end graphics, an engaging storyline, and off-the-wall characters, guaranteed to have the kids excited and coming back for more.
eVac-U8! from Windy Towers was the first series of 18 maths games for kids aged 7 and up was launched in August 2001 and set the standard of educating kids about mathematics in a fun way. This year, eVac-U8! won the WAITTA awards in March 2002 and received an AIMIA Highly Commended award.
Cleverly enmeshed in the production are math games and concepts … curriculum-based elements designed not only to interest the young players, but also to challenge and extend them.
During the production of the games, Fun-Ed formed Junior Advisory Boards in Australia and the UK. The production team closely liaised with the Junior Advisory Boards and was directly influenced by the kids input. Specially produced classroom-friendly curriculum based schools version of eVac-U8! and Ratbags have also been produced.
Fun-Ed's future plans include a series of Science games which promise to be every bit as exciting as Ratbags at Windy Towers and eVac-U8! from Windy Towers.
